After releasing the single “Plant Song,” which John Vettesse of WXPN calls “a crunchy indie rock jam that reminds me a lot of Liz Phair and that dog,” 17 year-old Philly bred artist imani! (Imani Henry), spent the next two years finishing high school, enrolling as a film major at Temple University, winning awards for her short films, and somehow finding time to write and record her first EP KILL THE LEADERBOARD. Now at 19, imani!’s latest offering is a 4 song powerhouse exploring rampant, destructive consumerism, feelings of insecurity, quiet reflection, and the loss of an imaginary pet.

Joined by “Plant Song” collaborator, Daniel DiFranco, imani! sets out to show she’s more than power chords and bombast. KILL THE LEADERBOARD shows a well-rounded worldview that goes way beyond and belies her 19 years.
